Three new chairlifts
Three new 8-seat chairlifts with weather protection hoods and heated seats in the Silvretta Arena by winter 2026/2027
The Silvrettaseilbahn AG is investing 50 MM Euro in improving the comfort and convenience of the ski area, and will construct the replacement lifts HÖLLBODEN C1 and SASSGALUN C3 in summer 2025 and HÖLLKAR C2 in summer 2026.
Since going into operation, these 3 lifts have transported more than 83 m avid winter sports fans in total.
All 3 chairlifts feature entry and exit monitoring (AURO: Autonomous Ropeway Operation) by Doppelmayr, a first for the Silvretta Arena.
The Höllkar- and Sassgalun lifts are being built on the same route.
The upper terminus of the new Höllboden lift will be built around 500 m east of Idalp in a new location between pistes 10 and 11, just above the Idalp.
The new routing of the planned Höllboden lift and the new location for the upper terminus opposite the existing Höllboden 8-seat chairlift aim to ensure that the crossing of the skiers and winter sports fans in the area around the upper terminus Höllboden/Idalp is significantly improved.
All roofs of the new cable cars will have solar panels installed, with a total area of 1,200 m² and total power of 274.5 kWp.

In May 2025, the Höllboden 8-seat chairlift and the Sassgalun 6-seat chairlift will be dismantled. The Höllkarbahn lift will be dismantled in May 2026.
It is planned to construct all three cable cars in Tirolean ski areas again.
The Höllboden lift will be rebuilt in See ski area as “Familienglück” (family joy) chairlift.

Small hydropower plant – Untere Velillalp (P10)
A small power station will be integrated into the existing “Untere Velillalp” pump station for power production in summer 2025.

The Silvrettaseilbahn AG employs some 700 staff during winter and is one of the most important employers in Tirol. The Bergbahnen Samnaun AG and the Silvrettaseilbahn AG together operate 46 cable cars and lifts, 239 kilometres of slopes and 12 mountain restaurants in the Silvretta-Arena ski area, and the Silvretta Therme in Ischgl.
Since the company was established, the shareholders have foregone any dividend payout in order to allow investments in the ski area.

On 18 December, the Höllbodenlift was put into operation, the second T-bar lift besides the Idjochlift. 2004 the T-bar lift was closed down.

tWINLINER Samnaun
The double-deck cable car Twinliner L1, built in 1995 in Samnaun, will undergo comprehensive modernisation in summer 2026. As part of the upgrade, both cabins will be replaced, and the cable car control system as well as the automatic platform doors will be brought up to the latest state of the art.
In addition, the system will be designed for future operation with unaccompanied cabins. Both the cabins and the stations will be technically and infrastructurally adapted to ensure the highest safety and comfort standards.
During the summer months, the L2 aerial cable car in Samnaun will remain in operation, ensuring transportation for guests and local residents.
The reopening of the modernised Twinliner is scheduled in time for the start of the 2026/27 winter season.
